A few common questions
Will my image keep its aspect ratio?
Yes. Editing either side calculates the other from the original proportions. The calculated side rounds to the nearest whole pixel, with a minimum of one pixel. Tiny images can therefore have a small rounding difference. The image is never cropped or enlarged.
What do width and height in pixels mean?
They count the image’s horizontal and vertical pixels, not its printed size in inches. Inputs start at the original dimensions and cannot exceed them. JPEG EXIF orientation is applied first, so rotated photos use their displayed width and height. Resizing uses the full-resolution source, not the smaller preview.
Does PNG transparency stay transparent?
Yes. PNG output preserves transparency. The checkerboard is only a preview background and is not added to the file. JPEG stays JPEG and PNG stays PNG.
How is resizing different from compression?
Resizing changes pixel dimensions. Compression changes how image data is encoded. JPEG output uses a 90% encoding quality setting; re-encoding may change detail and file size, even at the original dimensions. PNG is encoded without a quality slider. Neither format is guaranteed to produce a smaller file.
Which images are supported?
One JPEG or static PNG up to 20 MB, 24 megapixels and 16,384 pixels per side. Actual file contents and decoding are checked. Animated PNGs are rejected. Large images may exceed your device’s available memory even within these limits.
Are images uploaded or metadata copied?
No uploads or external APIs are used. Processing happens in your browser with JavaScript and Canvas. Original camera and location metadata are not copied. Browser color management may change colors. Start over or leave the page to release image resources.
